Why Commission a Custom Organ?
-
A Custom Piece is One of a Kind
Tailored specifically to your vision, no one else will ever have your organ. It's non replicable.
-
Collect a Little Piece of Macrame History
Macrame is evolving and its history has yet to be written. My work breaks ground in this medium.
-
Interact with the Creation Process
On social media, I share a lot of behind-the-scenes process photos, videos, and observations while I create a piece. This presents an interesting opportunity for collectors to witness their art in the making.
From Sketch to Sculpture
By commissioning an organ, you'll have the chance to work one-on-one with me. The process begins with an initial consultation in which we discuss concept, scope, tone, size, scale, and colour. Based on the specifications of the project, we'll come up with a timeline and plan that is tailored to the specifications of the piece.
Creating Elements
Once a plan is in place, I get to work creating the individual elements that will fill your organ. This is very time consuming, and I work to make each little element an intricate sculpture unto itself. Up close, you can see every tiny knot that's tied to compose your piece. In a cultural moment where so much incentive is placed on digital forms of production, handmade art is evermore important.
Financial Commitment
Organs take me, at minimum, two full months to make. At maximum, they take about four months. In that time, I commit wholeheartedly to making your piece as extraordinary as I possibly can. The commitment that I need in return from you is a financial one that will range, depending on the piece, from $4000 to $8000. This sum is not all required at once, and is broken down into the following:
*a $1000 deposit secures your commission and begins the process
*an additional $1000 deposit is due once elements are created/approved and the custom frame has been fabricated
*remaining payment is due upon completion of the piece, and before it is shipped to you.
